Andy was a good friend from my university years in Glasgow, through to when we both ended up working in London. He was originally from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. Andy passed away at the age of 33, on the 4th June 2006, after his second bout with a rare bone cancer.
Best described as a man of intellect; he had the ability to turn a discussion on its head with linguistic skill any spin doctor would be proud of, but he always managed to keep it where the rest of us could follow.
A regular online chess player under his pseudonym of Edwardipov, he once answered another online chess player’s question;
‘What’s white and hard?’
‘A fridge with a flick knife’ – you needn’t say anymore.
